Cancellation Nation

Cancel Culture is on a rampage. It doesn’t take much (and sometimes, nothing) for people to publicly call out, shame and boycott celebrities and each other. Cancel culture has also cancelled itself. Lol. Of course it has!

While the act of cancelling was born out of politically-correct social media made to amplify marginalized voices and groups, it also runs the risk of blowing situations out proportion. In some cases, cancel culture also indicates a new trend: people’s inability to teach, forgive, and move on. So is cancelling someone (or something) just mob mentality or a tool for social justice? The jury is out.

Inspired by this duality, its inherent politics and today’s turbulent social media landscape, this project takes a closer look at cancel culture through design. Think social commentary meets brand identity. Welcome to Cancellation Nation.
